Here is vol II of random music on my Ipod. I think this is neat so forget you guys


1. Rilo Kiley - Bulletproof - Take Offs and Landings 2001

This is a band I actually found through the interwebs. The lead singer was in some movies I remember from childhood Troop Beverly Hills and The Wizard. I read an article about her new band a few years back, checked it out on the web and found a bunch of their songs. They are the kinda of girl fronted pop i am drawn to. This song is alright but they have some great stuff.





2. Sufjan Stevens - John Wayne Gacy Jr. - Come on Feel the Illinoise 2005

This guy is from Michigan and had heard some of his stuff while in college. I swear I saw him somewhere in Ann Arbor or something. He had an album about Michigan that I had heard he was going to make an album about every state. Well, this illinois album has probably the most beautiful song about a serial killer I have ever heard. I always thought Gacy was crazy and scary in that clown make-up they always showed him in. This is a weird song about his life. Check it out if you can or I can send it.



3. Veruca Salt - Venus Man Trap - Eight Arms To Hold You 1997

Some of you may know my unnatural love of all things Veruca. This album is by far their best and the one that started my obsession. This song is a rocker and one of my favorites. I may have to post about my veruca groupie days. I am a special one.










4. Eels - My Descent Into Madness - Electro Shock Blues 1998

This band is really one guy i think but they/he had a big hit on the radio when I was at Wayne State "Novicane for the Soul". I have all their albums and they are one of few bands I will buy before hearing a new song. This song gives a good example of The Eels style. Strings, drums and weird lyrics.








5. Live - Century - Secret Samadhi 1997


Live is a band I first heard of during Hell Week at ATO. Most of that week I had to clean Lorko and Doogie room and they were paying the album Throwing Copper over and over. Whether it was the extreme exhaustion or lack of food I loved that album. This is from the next album and has great lyrics like "this puke stinks like beer" and "I can smell your armpits". Again it reminds me of ATO. I always think of it when I hear music by Live.

Settling in

We are slowly settling in to a routine with our newly expanded family. Andie's family helped us out a lot by staying with us while we got situated. I am trying to not kill the boys as they adjust. And Andie dad does we he does best, show the boys how to sleep anywhere in any position. All Miller's have a kind of narcolepsy that is both fascinating and annoying. Andie will be talking to me and two seconds later be fast asleep. I think there is only one position i can fall asleep in but a Miller can sleep standing up. Well, Pedee's are blessed with large feet and ears. I haven't figured out the evolutionary advantages of these traits but I have a team of scientists on it. We got some pictures of Big Brotha Ty with his lil bro. He doesn't realize he will be taken care of his brothers more than he wants to. The oldest always gets screwed, that's how it is. I am just playing that forward.



After grandma and grandpa left the boys were going crazy. It had been raining for about two days so we all had cabin fever. After it rains I like to take the boys down to creek by the middle school so we can throw rocks in the water and see the fish. We have seen "lobsters" recently and the boys always want me to catch them. These are crayfish and they pinch. "just grab em Daddy!" Well, this time we found a net and tied it to a stick and made a fishing net. We were actually trying to catch tadpoles, but had no luck. As we were turning around to go back home Ty did a couple more casts and we thought he hadn't caught anything. I was pulling out the paper and "seaweed" he had caught and to our surprise we saw this bad boy

So we are doing good. Ryan goes for his first check up this morning and we will be "keepin it real" with MC Whitey Mcgee in the above picture. Word to your mother.

Homecoming

After what seemed like forever we finally brought home baby Ryan. We were all exhausted and we had some crazy storms roll through here last night so we didn't take a million pictures but here are some of the ones we did. They are very Coop heavy but he went to the hospital and I am very tired and haven't uploaded anymore pictures.

He is a very handsome boy and not hurting in the love department. He is available for your enjoyment at our house so come by and see him.

Off we go

It is almost 1pm on Friday and Coop and I are off to the hospital to bring home baby Ryan.

Finally....good news

I have not really reported much in fear of jinxing it but Pudge is off oxygen, eating like a champ and really doing better all the time. We are hoping this is turning the corner so to speak but there are a few more hurdles he needs to jump before he can go home. It feels like months but it has really only been about 3 days. Kinda feels like "Hell Week" at ATO. Andie is leaving post-partum today but will actually stay 2 more nights to be with Ryan. She will be eating at home tonight which will be good. I will post more pictures hopefully tonight.

Update II - Electric Boog-a-loo

I'm off to have a 9lb baby
Well, no bad news is good news in this case. Actually he is doing better all the time. To tell you the truth I am not sure what happened and why but little ryan is not transitioning well to being out of mommy's tummy. He had a very fast, kinda rough birth that supposedly stressed out the chunker. (By the way I have been affectionately calling him Pudge and it is not because he looks like Ivan Rodriguez). His blood sugar and breathing have been messed up since birth and it is taking him awhile to recover. The low sugar makes him lethargic and the breathing means feeding was a problem. But today she has been breastfeeding and to me he looks 1000 times better. He looked so uncomfortable yesterday and today they switched his IV to his umbilical cord and that has been a big difference. We were/are understandably freaked out but they keep telling us that he will be fine with no long-lasting effects. He looks way better to me and they say he should leave soon. Here are some pictures. Try not to be to focus on the tubes and wires but on the immense girth.







It is frustrating because we don't really why this is happening, so how do you stop it, but we are trying to stay strong. It was great to hold him and rock him today. I guess this whole thing is really surreal until he gets home. Keep him in your thoughts and prayers. We will update as we can.

Seems ryan is going to be trouble. It looks like he got a little sicker last night so I am off to the hospital and I hope that everything is going to be OK. Keep him in your thoughts as he makes his birth a memorable one.

He's finally here!!!!

Ryan Michael was born 2:31am on Monday morning. He was a whopper, 9lbs 2oz and 21 inches long.

He is having some breathing issues and is in NICU right now, but he is progressing nicely and all signs point to Wednesday release for both Mom and baby. Mom was awesome basically giving birth in 2 hours.

I am now taking the boys to meet him and we will put up a million pictures soon, after I sleep.

Our crazy weekend

Even though it is about a week ago now, we had a crazy weekend last week and I am just now recovering.

Andie's parents came to visit from Dallas on Thursday night to help with our garage sale on Saturday morning. Our subdivision has one or two neighborhood garage sales a year and we took full advantage of this one. We have been setting up for this one since February, and needless to say we had a lot of crap. Friday was spent setting up for the sale and I actually got out of the house by myself and hung out with some friends. My friend Paul was getting married on Saturday so he had a "bachelor" party in the loosest sense of the word. We all got together at some shiny shirt bar and played pool. It was fun but I got back at about 2am.

I woke up at about 7 the next morning to set up for the sale. I think it went well. I can't believe the stuff other people will buy. Here are some pictures.



So after lunch my father-in-law and I dumped the stuff that didn't sell off at the Salvation Army and we got ready for the wedding. As always Andie's had every minute of our time used so before the wedding we had to go to get her soccer pictures taken with her team. From there we went to the wedding. It was at this place called Star Hill Ranch about 45 minutes south of us. It was set up like an old west town with separate bride and groom houses and a great view of the Hill country. Pictures for proof:



It was nice and we had a great time. I had fun hanging out with my friends and getting to be with Andie without the kids. After we ate and were waiting for the cake she told me she thought she was having contractions but no big deal. She said she wanted to wait for the cake, at least she has her priorities straight, eh? Well, on the drive back we were both saying how exhausted we were and how we couldn't wait to go to bed. When we got back we found that her mom cleaned the whole house and I was laying down with the boys to go to sleep. That is when she said very quietly, "I think we should go to the hospital." Well we packed up, I think I fell asleep twice while driving, and we made it to the hospital at about 10:45 that night.

After some test, walking around a mostly closed hospital for an hour and scoping out our recovery room, they told us she was having contractions but they weren't doing anything. We could wait around to see if something will happen or go home. It was almost 2:30 and I had fallen asleep in the most uncomfortable chair ever created. We were going home. They basically said "see you tomorrow" and we left. Well, it has been almost a week now and Ryan is no closer to coming out. She has had no more major contractions and if he is not ready by April 22nd, they are yanking him out. I am betting on this weekend. Anyway, no you know why the posts have been so light, I think I have just caught up on my sleep.

Because I am a big dork, I read lots of blogs and other pages "on the internets" as my grandma calls it.

Anyway, on several they periodically will post the last 5 songs that popped up on their ipod while on shuffle. Now since I feel I have great musical taste, I thought I would steal this idea and occasionally post the last 5 songs on my ipod. Just so you know as of today I have 3143 songs, 14.48 GB of music which equates to 8.6 days of listening pleasure.


1. Paperboy - Ditty - 1993 The Nine Yards

I remember this song was big when I was a sophomore in college. I think I bought it on cassette single or something. Thank god for the internet because it is easy to find now. Still a good song








2. Fear Not of Man - Mos Def - 1999 Black on Both Sides

I am sure most people only know this handsome man as an actor but he has had several albums out and was in a band called Black Star
Anyway he is kind of an alternative rap artist, and really good.










3. Ingots - Kaki King 2004 Legs to Make Us Longer

I am not sure where I first saw this girl but she would be best described as experimental. Check out this youtube and make your mind up.

She is a slap guitar player and has some jazzy influences.

4. The Merchant of Grooves - 3rd Bass 1991 Derelicts of Dialect


I remember my brother and I plying the crap out of this tape in high school. I have recently discovered it and it is still a great listen. Don't remember this song as much but the whole album is good.









5. Sometimes - Pearl Jam 1996 No Code


I remember buying this in PA school and listening to it a lot but I don't remember a lot about it now. Pearl Jam has a soft spot in my heart because after I saw them in 1991 or 1992 I started listening to more grunge music and not all rap all the time. I would actually buy their album without knowing any of the songs, which I think I did here. I think I stopped doing that after this CD.

It's been along time

Man, it seems like this is harder to do than I thought. Finding time to post updates is hard when you have no time. I will update our crazy weekend but I am doing a cop-out picture post this time around. I need to go to sleep before the baby comes and I never sleep again
